First Away games for Under 14's Ladies

Shetland Rugby Club presents

On the 10th of November the Under 14 Junior rugby girls traveled down to Aberdeen to participate in the Under 14 girls’ rugby development training games. The games were at the Jason White pavilion home of the Aberdeen Wanderers. This was their first development experience, Girls from Howe of Fife, Angus, Grampian and Highland all participated.
Hamilton Burr conducted the warm up. He is a product of Aberdeen Wanderers youth, who is currently playing with Stirling County and has a stage 3 contract with the SRU academy and trains with Glasgow Warriors during the week. He played for GW during the preseason games too.
They played on the Saturday morning and played 8v8, 30-minute games
The weather was dry but chilly, the pitch was well maintained and easy to play on.
All the girls that attended were put into mixed teams, it was a good development session for the girls and they learnt a lot. During one of the games Petra Varga from the Shetland team got enough confidence and was able to break through tackles and score her first try, all coaches at the side line took note of this try, this gave the Shetland girls a boost in confidence that was much needed. Emma showed that her previous football skills helped her move around the pitch well, Zahra showed great determination in her driving skills with Arwen showing good support skills. At the end of the session the coach praised the girls and told them how good they were and how they would get better in time and practice.
The girls that travelled were left to right Zahra Skene, Petra Varga, Emma Burgess and Arwen Neild with Coach Heather Mullay.
Special thanks to Northlink for there continued support, and to Trevor Baronet and Ryan Mullay who also traveled with the girls.

Training continues Saturdays 11:00-12:00 in the 60/40.
